That's where most of its problem really begin. Despite having an intriguing storyline and characters as well as an environment that you'll want to take a look around in, you can't. You can't really do much aside from trekking along a well-worn path the game has laid out for you, which is one indicator that the game ahead of you isn't going to be the adventure it could have been. There are various choices to be made as you make your way through the story, which means you may need to assist civilians along the way or otherwise help shape the narrative, Exploring Novo Slava will undoubtedly fill your head with visions of checking out the various buildings and areas found throughout the map, but don't labor under the delusion that you'll actually get to do so. The characters themselves seem to have some interesting stories to tell, but the game doesn't seem keen on letting you do so. Don't worry though, you won't remember them, anyway. Their names? Pretty forgettable: Mikhail Alexandrovich Shuvalov, Olga Sergevna Kalinina, and Leonid Fedorovich Osterman. The story takes place in the year 2127, following three different protagonists: a cop, a pilot, and a man with a checkered past, all of whom you'll spend quality time with throughout the campaign. It looks and feels like a delicious meal, but once you bite into it, you see how far from the truth that really is. In several ways, it can be likened to eating a gas station burrito. Though decidedly Metal Gear-like in execution, however, it ends up failing to engage, instead appearing as though it's destined for bargain bin status in the near future. Set in the Front Mission universe and having recruited the legendary Metal Gear character artist Yoji Shinkawa, it had every chance to succeed.
